We suggest you discuss your choices with your parents and your current Guidance Counselor to ensure that your program of study includes those courses necessary for entrance into the university program(s) of your choice. To assist you in making your course selections, please refer to the course descriptions and course prerequisites contained in the NJC Academic Calendar.
Please read all instructions carefully.

General Instructions
- The course blocks indicate courses that are taught at the same time. You may therefore select only one course from any block, unless noted otherwise. You must select a minimum of 3, or a maximum of 4 credit courses for each semester that you are attending. You need a minimum of 6 credit courses, (Ontario Credits) to graduate with an NJC Diploma (see Appendix D). Students coming from Grade 11 outside of Ontario need 7 credit courses to complete OSSD requirements including English. Students who have completed enough credits for graduation or already have an OSSD or other high school diploma must take a minimum of one AP course (Please see Appendix C- AP Overview).
- Check that you have the prerequisite for each course that you wish to select by referring to the NJC Academic Calendar. If so, place an X in the box below that block and give the prerequisite. If you do not have the specific prerequisite for a course, but feel that you have sufficient background to complete the course successfully, make the course selection and indicate in the space provided the course selection along with your previous courses or experience in that subject.
- All students at the College MUST be enrolled in a French course–over the full year. If you do not choose a French course for credit, or AP French, you WILL be enrolled in a non-credit French course: Français: Communication et Culture which is normally one period per week. Self-select your level, Beginners, Intermediate or Advanced, but final placement will approved by the College. Please note that you will not be able to take another course during the block in which your Français Communication et Culture course occurs. Advanced level students are encouraged to take French for credit or AP French.
- Personal & Social Development (PSD) sessions are offered over the full year through the Guidance Department and are mandatory for all students.
- German may also be taken as a non-credit conversational course in semester 1 and Italian in semester 2. Note that German or Italian Conversation would be in addition to the 3 credit courses you are required to take. The course normally takes place for one session per week during lunchtime at Neuchatel’s Inlingua Language School and there is a supplementary fee for this course (225 CHF) per semester.
Please Note:
- The order of the blocks does not represent the order of classes during the day.
- In order to maintain reasonable class sizes, we reserve the right to cap selected classes on a first-come, first-served basis.
- If the enrollment in a given class is fewer than five students the class will normally be cancelled.
- We will make all efforts to provide students with their selected courses in the semester requested. In the event of a full or cancelled class, we will attempt to rearrange the program of study in order to keep the selected courses. In the event that such a re-arrangement is not feasible, students will be notified as soon as possible in order to make alternative course selections.
- Questions should be directed to your current guidance counselor or to NJC’s counselors at guidance@njc.ch
